About the Backyard Chicken Club
When Ed Williamson got his first flock of backyard chickens in April 2011, he realized right away that he had a lot more questions about raising chickens than he had answers.  On a visit to St. Elmo Feed & Seed in St. Elmo, he also learned that many others in the area were interested in raising chickens, either as pets or for the eggs they produce.

So in September 2011, Williamson and others gathered to form the Mobile Bay Area Backyard Chicken Club to assist owners of backyard poultry and to address concerns of those who own or want to own a few or a flock of chickens. The group continues to meet monthly, and members live not only in rural areas, but also on the suburbs and urban locations.
