Every time we visit garden centers, we go looking for the perfect plant. Sometimes we find it and sometimes it finds us. Either way, we bring it home with the perfect spot in mind. Are we sure that spot is good for that species of plant? Do we know how to evaluate if it is a healthy plant? Do we know how to make sure the site is ready? How much do we break up the rootball? Or what is a ‘rootball’? If you want to make sure your plants get off to the best start, the Mobile Botanical Gardens is here to answer your questions and help you prepare for your new botanical addition. Amanda Wilkins, curator of plant collections, will walk you through how to easily assess the health of your potted plant, how to prepare your planting site, and how to prepare your plant for its new home in your garden.
(There are 4 sessions available to choose from: March 7th and every day of the Plant Sale, March 16-18)
